Smalls SAL – July 2017 Check-In

Hello, Smalls Stitchers! Welcome to the July Smalls SAL check-in. New to the Smalls SAL? All the details can be found right here.

I have not stitched much this month. 🙁 When I did finally remember that I needed to get something done for the SAL, it turned out I was missing some threads for the project I had planned. Ugh. So, with just a couple of days left, and no real stitching time available, I finished this tiny design:

Brooch Snail, designed by Riolis

This little cutie is from a free kit from Riolis. He is stitched on plastic canvas with a wool/acrylic blend thread from Safil. (You may remember that I am allergic to wool. Yes, there is enough in this thread to make my throat itch, but it only took me about an hour, broken up over a day, to stitch this guy so I survived.)

He is finished with a blue felt on the back and a pin so he can be worn as a brooch or attached to a bag. The felt is sewn on at the same time that the black backstitching is done, which I think is super clever.

What did you stitch this month? Did you go with a Christmas in July theme, something summery, something wintery, or are you getting ready for Halloween? Head down near the bottom of this post and leave a link to your finished small.

Please remember to use a picture of your small as your thumbnail, and please use the permalink for your post (not a link to the front page of your blog). If you need any help, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

The link list will remain open to new entries until about midnight Eastern time on August 4th, 2017. Remember, for each month that you share a completed small you get one entry into the end of the year draw.

Next Month – The next Smalls SAL check-in will take place on Friday, August 25th, 2017.

I thought I missed the deadline. But I didn’t. Wohoo. I’ve missed so many. I was able to finish my May snapshot though….finally….in July haha.

Cute little design. I like the idea of stitching the backing at the same time as doing the backstitching.
