Creativ Festival Shopping

Just over a week ago, I went to the spring Creativ Festival. It is a pretty different experience than the fall Festival. For starters, it is held in a different location and is on for just two days (Friday and Saturday, oddly). The spring Festival also mainly consists of a (smaller) shopping area as well as a few classes and lectures that are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. This is in contrast to the five days of classes/three days of shopping at the larger fall Festival.

I headed over on Saturday morning with my mom. She beads and makes lots of lovely jewellery and was hoping to get some seed beads and other pretty things. My main goals were chainmaille supplies and something from Quilt-a-Bag. I think I succeeded. 😉

Kits!

Kits!

I bought two kits and some additional supplies from HyperLynks. I’ve made up the kits already (the scale bracelet and the star pendant) and made one of the bracelets I bought supplies for (the “bicycle chain” bracelet). There are a few other weaves I hope to learn, and I have enough rings that I can make several more things. (And then I can buy more in the fall!)

I also bought three kits from Quilt-a-Bag. I’ve started (barely) working on the first, which is why I only have the pattern in the picture. I love their kits because the bags are always very clever. But, their instructions are a little tricky. They are definitely written for someone who knows a bit more about bag construction than I do.

I didn’t buy anything related to cross stitch. There were only two cross stitch vendors that I noticed, and they are the same ones that are always there. Nothing jumped out at me. I was a bit disappointed, but that is the way things go. (To be honest, there may have been smaller vendors there and I just didn’t notice them.)

We ended up being in and out in under 2 hours. My mom wasn’t able to get most of what she wanted because a few regular vendors weren’t there. (Hopefully they will return for the fall Festival!) All and in, I was satisfied, but only just. I got what I wanted, but saw little else that interested me.

It’s good to know that I didn’t miss anything. I can’t wait to see what classes they’ll be offering in the fall 😀

The Celtic Star necklace is lovely.
Shame it wasn’t a better show but at least you can save your money for the Autumn one!
