Now that we are settled into our house, and actually have some space, my mom has started bring over old Christmas decorations. It was a lot of fun to go through the boxes and uncover ornaments and figurines that I haven’t seen in more than a decade. From all these treasures, though, there was one that is perhaps the best.
This was the first piece of cross stitch I ever finished. It is a pre-printed design, possible from Dimensions or Designs for the Needle. When I bought it (while in vacation in the U.S.), I didn’t see the listing for the floss colours. So, instead, I spent a lot of time trying to match colours to what was printed on the fabric. I think my fabric choices worked out fairly well. (And if you know more about this piece, please let me know!)
So you still have your first stitched piece? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below, and if you post about on your blog be sure to let me know!
Lovely piece. Sorry, I don’t know anything about it. You can see my first stitched piece at the bottom of this post. http://www.bengalcatlover10.blogspot.com/2014/03/i-made-some-progress.html

What a precious piece to still own. Your stitches were very neat even back then.
My first pieces were two Anchor sampler kits I bought in the haberdashery department of John Lewis –

(The other one is in the post after that one!)
I can’t even remember what I stitched first. I usually give my pieces away. I recently got back some stitching I did for my MIL after she passed. Plan to hang them once we get some much needed renovations done.

How sweet! What a beautiful first finish. The first one I ever finished was a baby sampler given to my niece when she was born 12 years ago; I don’t know if they still have it.
Lovely Christmas finish 🙂 I do still have my first project. It’s a cute little cat fishing from a goldfish bowl. It’s even framed too 🙂
