Who doesn’t love stitching ornaments? Decorating Christmas trees, Halloween trees and even Easter trees with stitched ornaments is a great way to show off your work, and to give yourself a quick finish. And, of course, stitching with friends is much more fun than stitching alone.
The rules are very simple:
- Stitch an ornament every month. It can be for any holiday, in any style, and using any needlework technique you choose.
- Post a picture of your completed ornament (stitching done, but the actual finishing is optional) on the last Wednesday of every month.
- Hop over here to my blog and add a comment to the current month’s check in post to get an entry into the end of the year draw.
Also, please consider using the above graphic to link back to this page so other people can find out about the SAL and join in the fun.
Dates
The dates for check in are as follows:
- January 30th
- February 27th
- March 27th
- April 24th
- May 29th
- June 26th
- July 31st
- August 28th
- September 25th
- October 30th
- November 27th
- December 30th
Note that the last check in is a little later in the month, to help account for the Christmas rush and to allow for an end of the year wrap up of all your finishes.
Prizes
There will be a draw held on January 6th, 2014 for all the participants in the SAL. To enter, just make a comment on the check in posts with a link to your ornament of the month. For every month you post your pictures and make a comment you will get an entry into the draw. And I would love it if you would link back to the Ornament SAL page. (It’s permanent home is at this location.)
What will the prize be? A surprise, of course! But, rest assured it will be stash that will help you stitch your 2014 ornaments! And maybe a stitched ornament, too. If you’d like to donate something towards the prize please send me an email. (And thank you very much!)
Need a Reminder?
Want to make sure you never forget a check in post? Sign up for my mailing list, and I will send out an email every month after I post up the check in post. Don’t worry, I will never sell, share, trade or otherwise abuse your email address. Heck, I’ll be doing the mailing list manually!
Participants
Interested in joining up? Just add you link to the list below. If you can’t get the form to work, please send me an email and I will add you manually.

I’m in! No idea if I can actually FINISH an ornament a month, but I’ll give it a go! I don’t see a separate link list, so I hope this is the right place to sign up!
I would love to join your ornament SAL. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for arranging and hosting this SAL. I just found the SAL, but had decided to try to stitch an ornament each month, this will make it easier.
Just joined this SAL and looking forward to getting some ornaments stitched up this year

Is it too late to join? I stitch ornaments all year round, and have already stitched two this month. They can be seen on my blog.
I’m going to give this a go. I have so much other stitching going on that I’m not sure I’ll be able to join in every month, but I do have a goal to get at least 6 ornies done this year anyway, so maybe this will be good motivation for me:)
Thanks
I have just posted my link for my January ornie. I hope I have done it correctly as this is the first time I have checked in.
I have put my link here and am now No 55 in the participants I have correctly posted on the correct page now, but dont know how to remove the link from No 55 above. Sorry.
HI –
I did finish an ornie but I have NO idea how or Where to post the photo. Where on your page do i do this ?
thanks for your help. every page is so different it sometimes takes awhile before I can
figure out how they work.
thanks and I appreciate your help.
Ok, I have a question. Often when I stitch an ‘ornament’ I choose to finish it as a greeting card, instead of an actual ornament you can hang. Does this still count?
Brilliant — just what I need to get in gear…. I guess you know what I’ll be doing tonite — yup, pouring through those ornie options. 🙂
Well, my ornament is late for March and the February one didn’t happen! Maybe I will show the finished stitching and the not the complete finish next time!
Well I made it for March….. a day late, lol! February didn’t happen!
