Smalls SAL – September 2017 Check-In

Hello, Smalls Stitchers! Welcome to the September check-in.

We have definitely rounded the corner of the year, and it won’t be long until thoughts turn to the new year and new plans. I’m not sure yet if the Smalls SAL will continue next year. Let me know if you are interested in continuing with the Smalls SAL next year in the comments below.

On to September stitching! I am in a Chirstmas-y sort of mood, so I stitched up another one of Mill Hill’s Sleigh Ride series, Traditional Sleigh. I stitched it as per the chart using all the included fibres and beads.

Traditional Sleigh, designed by Mill Hill

I love these perforated paper ornaments so much! They have a great vintage/modern look, and they are so easy to finish. I have lots of ornaments stitched on fabric that are waiting around (for years and years and years…) to be finished, but when I am done with a perforated paper ornament, its done and ready to be hung up. I love that!

What did you stitch this month? Leave you link using the little form you’ll find linked to a little further down in this post. Please be sure to use the permalink for your blog post, and also be sure to use a thumbnail of your finished piece.

The link list will remain open to new entries until about midnight Eastern time on October 6th. Remember: for each month you share a finished small you will get one entry into the end of the year draw for a stitchy prize.

Next Month – The next check-in will take place on Friday, October 27th.

Thanks again for stitching along with me! And don’t forget to let me know if you want the Smalls SAL to continue next year.

  1. You are well ahead of the seasons – I know I’m not ready to start thinking of Christmas yet!

Your sleigh looks great!! I like the perf paper ornaments for that reason too – they go so quickly from an FO to an FFO! 😀

If you do the Smalls SAL next year, I will be participating!

  3. Sheryl says:

Pretty traditional sleigh Heather. I haven´t even started to think about Christmas stitching yet but October is about the right time. Of course I would join you next year if there is a Smalls SAL.

Your ornament is beautiful. I have really enjoyed this SAL and would participate in it if you have it next year.

The sleigh is lovely, I really like this series of designs.
Of course I want the Smalls SAL to continue next year! As long as you’re happy to run it. I love seeing what everyone else is working on.

I’ve been so busy I haven’t got any smalls stitching done this month. I agree with you very much on the mill hill kits. Done stitching. Cut out. Done. Perfect. I hope you continue. I love the push to work on something each month. I’ve already been making my plans in hopes it would continue. Now to just actually do the stitching haha.

  7. Pamela says:

I like the ornaments on perforated paper too. There are some nice details on your sleigh ornament.
I am interested in the SAL for next year.

That’s such a sweet ornament. I think the Mill Hill series are really satisfying to stitch.
