Letter of Defence

I don’t usually post about political items, but this story bothers me: Canada sends letter to U.S. offering to co-operate on missile defence. It is only a preliminary step, but it is a dangerous move, I think. Canada is known as a country which supports arms control. We also present very little threat to anyone. Why would we want to make ourself into a potential target?

I know there is more to the story and more to the issue, but my gut reaction is that this is a bad idea. And really, our PM should spend money replacing outdated military equipment first. But Paul Martin seems very interested in being friendly with George Bush, unlike our previous PM.
