Happy Eclipse Day fellow inhabitants of North America. I hope it was clear and the sun was visible wherever you happen to be. I’m located in Southern Ontario, so we had a wonderful sunny day, but sadly we only got a maximum coverage of about 75%. You’d think that would mean that it got a bit dark, but nope. It was brighter than a cloudy day. Still, we had loads of fun checking out the sun with our eclipse glasses.
In honour of the big day I made my first t-shirt using heat transfer vinyl (HTV) and my Cricut.
The design comes from Autumn Leah Cuts on etsy. I used bright orange HTV and cut the design on my new favourite toy, my Cricut Explore Air 2. Unfortunately, I don’t have a heat press, so I did my best with a household iron. So far the vinyl is staying put, but I am absolutely going to invest in a new Cricut Easy Press because I love doing t-shirts!
Sadly, this is the best picture my phone was able to take of the eclipse, through solar glasses. (I wasn’t risking the new camera!) This is at about 15 minutes after the moon first began its journey across the sun.
We had about 85% coverage. It was pretty cool!
It looks so fascinating
I’m glad you got to see it, even if you aren’t in the path of totality.
What fun to make your own t-shirts.
If you are in the path of the next one, you can get a solar filter for pictures. I had one for my good DSLR camera and got some stunning photos.
Cute shirt! I wonder if I could do that with my old Cricut.
We were supposed to see 80%, but it didn’t seem like it.
WOW your T-shirs is great! I hope vou’ve enjoyed your time!
