A day late again. I know I was supposed to post a knitting update yesterday, but Baby Man woke up from his nap after less than a half an hour extremely upset. I tried to get him to go back to sleep, and ended up taking him out for a walk and something to eat. That meant there was no time for me to do anything for myself. To ensure this didn’t happen again today, I took pictures of my knitting last night, so they look a little crappy. As always, if you are reading this actually at my blog, click to embiggen, if you are reading this elsewhere (Google Reader, Facebook, etc.), I have no idea what will happen if you click the pictures!
Here is the entrelac scarf I’m working on for Baby Man. It is turning out so much better than that ugly entrelac scarf I was knitting a while ago. I’m using Bernat’s Sox in colour Wooded Denim. It has turned out to be much too wide for Baby Man at 16.5cm (6.5″). But I’m forging ahead, thinking that I can fold it in half for him now, and use it as is in a couple of years. Or, I can make it into a gift for someone else. We shall see how it goes.
I’ve also cast on a pair of Lucy Neatby’s Mermaid Socks using Mary Maxim’s Bamboo Soft Stripes in colour Spring Rain. Not much to see though.
And, of course, I’m also working on a Christmas gift I can’t share.
On to other business: I’ve finished book 7 in the 10 Book Reading Challenge. Mr. Darcy’s Diary by Amanda Grange was a wonderful, fun, romantic read. I love revisiting Jane Austen’s worlds, even through other author’s words. I liked this book so much that I’ve reserved another book by Amanda Grange from the library: Mr. Knightley’s Diary
.
I’m guessing that some of you might be surprised how quickly I’m working my way through these books. Well, I’m a voracious reader. I love books and I read whenever I get the chance. I average at least 50 books of 300 pages or more a year, along with various magazines, shorter books, books I don’t finish, and several books I don’t count because I don’t feel like they are real books (e.g. knitting and cross stitch books that are more than 50% patterns). I read fast, and at every opportunity. I’m even reading when I knit now, since Baby Man has stolen (!) so much of my reading time.
And, lastly, I’ve come across one more giveaway. Annette of Annette’s Acre is hosting a 3rd giveaway, this time for a whole huge pile of cross stitch stuff. Head on over to enter before October 18th. Or not, because I really want to win this one! lol! Kidding, of course.
Love the colour of that scarf – so very pretty! 🙂
I think you and I read at about the same pace – I easily read as quickly as you. It’s hard for me to pick ‘short’ books for my bookclub – I can read those in an evening, but everyone else struggles to finish in a month! 😉
