The New New Job

It has been a quiet week here at the Pond because I have been doing my best to try to adjust to my new job. I sort of see this job as my last chance to pull myself together, and so far things are going well. The store is a little disorganized and the rules are a little more lax then I prefer, but there is always room for improvement. The other staff members seem very nice and very friendly. I’ve even been out to dinner with them already. (Which was very stressful considering my problems with strangers, but it was also a lot of fun too.) The owners are okay… The man is a bit of a jerk, and the woman seems nice enough but a little bit flaky. All in all, I think that everything will be okay.

I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t had time to enjoy the beautiful weather we have been having. It has been a very cool summer this year, even more so this week. And, personally, I’m very happy for that. But, as I sit here and look out the window, I can see that one of the trees is already starting to turn. It looks like we may have an early fall and a chilly winter. I’m not looking forward to that, but I am looking forward to walking through High Park when the leaves have all started to change. It should be beautiful.

10 Questions

I have an almost unquenchable thirst for knowledge. My (unrealistic) lifetime goal is to learn everything there is to know about everything. I’m not really making much headway, since the more I learn, the more I realize that I know nothing at all. This has made me think about what I would like to know if I could ask ten questions and get the answers.

  1. Did Atlantis really exist? And if so, did people escape and spread their knowledge?
  2. Do goddess and gods actually exist as separate beings, or are they only human creations?
  3. What happens to us when we die?
  4. Is there other intelligent life in the universe?
  5. How did human civilization real begin? (i.e. matricentric societies, etc.)
  6. Was Queen Elizabeth I really the “Virgin Queen”?
  7. How were the Great Pyramids built?
  8. Do supernatural creatures, like vampires and ghosts, actually exist?
  9. What were the secrets of certain ancient cults and religions?
  10. Have I made a difference in at least one person’s life?

It’s In You to Give

OLately I have been feeling like I would like to give more back to the world in general. I have considered volunteering, but my problem with dealing with strangers has made it difficult for me to take action. (I want to volunteer for the ROM this coming spring though.) On Saturday, I decided to donate blood for the first time. Our townhall was having a blood drive and, conveniently enough, I had some books to pick up at the library there. It seemed to me that Someone was telling me that it was a good time to give, and I did so gladly.1st Time Donor

I was a bit surprised by the sort of people that were there. I was expecting to see granola-eating, sandal-wearing, over-the-hill hippies, but they were actually all average people, just like me. And the process itself was much less painful than I was anticipating–I hardly felt a thing. The entire process took a little over an hour, with the actually donation and recovery time being about fifteen minutes. (First-time donors are required to take a little longer to rest.) Oh, the cookies and juice were great, too. 😉

In all seriousness, this is something that I plan to do on a regular basis. It is fairly painless, and takes only about an hour of my time. I am more then willing to give that hour and a little of my blood in order to save another person’s life. What about you?

Witches Weekly: Sound

Witches Weekly: Sound

Do you enjoy having any type of music or sound during a ritual? If so, what?
I don’t like to play or create music during ritual. I really prefer silence. I feel more attuned to what I am doing if it is quite.

Do you have a favorite chant?
No… I don’t really care for chants.

What sound tends to move you spiritually the most?
I love hearing the wind blow through the leafs of trees. To me, it is like the sounds of the Earth breathing.

Sidhe Shots – Air

This week’s Sidhe Shots theme is air. I took several beautiful pictures of a cloudy sky above nearby Grenadier Pond, but none of them seemed right. But as quanta and I got closer to the beach, I noticed a little girl flying a kite. The perfect picture! I have a bit of a soft spot for kites, because I used to love to fly them when I was younger. To me, they are so free… until they crash into a tree, that is. 😉
