Examining Motives

Writing The Book is slow going. Sometimes I wonder if this is something I really should do. It seems like every other person out there is writing a book. It isn’t anything special or great anymore. It is just something you do when you feel you have something to say. So, I am now examining what my motives really are.

I suppose the most important motive is that I feel that many (most) of the books on the same topic are either very lacking or full of mistakes. I don’t think I am an expert, but I do feel I know what I am writing about, and my book isn’t motivated by money. I guess is comes down to me wanting to make a difference. I don’t think The Book is a work of ego, but rather a way to give back.

Sidhe Shots – Devotion

The OSN network has started another weekly meme entitled Sidhe Shots. Essentially it is another photo meme, this time with a pagan theme. This week’s theme is “Devotion”, and my entry is below. Be kind. It’s my first time using the camera without quanta around to direct offer suggestions.

In this picture is a slate pentacle from The Magical Blend, the Isis card from the Goddess Oracle, and a string of meditation beads from The Little Box of Inner Calm.

Wireless

The Pond is now coming to you wirelessly! Staples Guy delivered the new wireless router about an hour ago. I managed to get it set up quite quickly, and I’m now relaxing on my comfy white chair, surfing wirelessly. Which is a good thing, since it looks like a big storm is rolling in. I really am quite happy about this, because I real am totally tied to my computer(s), and I love to be able to use them where ever, without having a bunch of cords trailing after me. Does this mean I will get more writing done? Well maybe, since I love to write in my journal when sitting in my comfy chair.

Of course, this also means that I will have easy access to game walkthrus when I’m playing something on one of the consoles. And that is a very good thing. 🙂

Canadian Politics *yawn*

Okay, I know most of you don’t care about Canadian politics. And I’ll tell you a secret… I really don’t care about American politics. So, we’re even. Anyway, the French language leaders debate is tonight, so politics is on my mind. I might watch the debate1 if nothing better is on TV. The Canadian election is moving ahead quickly, as they are do here. The election was announced on May 23rd, with the date set for June 28th. Now, I know America is a large country, but the politicians there campaign for such a long time! It seems they have been at it for almost a year now, and the actual voting day isn’t until November. Wow. I couldn’t imagine putting up with all the rhetoric for that long. (I’m also not sure why the U.S. bothers with fancy voting machine that mess everything up. We do just fine with a pencil here.)

10,000

Sometime very early this morning the combined counter of Reflections in the Pond and The Lotus Pond reached 10,000. Quite frankly, I never expected to see my counter get that high, let alone reach that mark in under a year. Approximately 8-10 hits per day are regular or semi-regular readers on Reflections and the rest are mostly search engine hits on the Pond. And believe me, I am thrilled that there are at least eight of you out there that like to read what I have to say on an almost daily basis.

Starting Reflections and the Pond has been very good for me. I am much more confident about my writing now. And I am also starting to believe that someone out there, other then quanta, might care about my opinion. And, even though I don’t comment much (at all, really), I have also found some blogs that I truly enjoy reading.

Thank you for reading my rants, musings, and complaints.

Unconscious Mutterings 71

Time for another Unconscious Mutterings. I’m sure to you, Reader, this list of words doesn’t mean a whole lot. I will agree that on the surface, it doesn’t seem to mean anything. But I assure you, they actually reveal a lot about me. And I am always interested in reading these lists on other people’s blogs. I think that is really does reveal something about the person.

  1. Colorblind:: Dad
  2. Shallow:: Teenage Girls
  3. Erotica:: Stories
  4. Figment:: Imagination
  5. Eviction:: OUT!
  6. Composed:: Calm
  7. Chill:: Snow
  8. Girl:: Woman
  9. California:: Going to (I liked that song…)
  10. Bond:: Connection

Witches Weekly – Rituals and Meditation

Witches Weekly – Rituals and Meditation

1. When performing rituals/meditations, do you associate yourself with the element most closely related to your astrological sign?

No, and it has never occurred to me to do so. I suppose, for life in general, I tend to most closely associate and function in tune with the element related to my sign. It isn’t something I do intentionally, though.

2. If not, do you associate/align yourself with your moon sign, or something that just “feels right”?

I really don’t do that either. I meditate when the mood seems right, and don’t use any particular sign or element. As for rituals, I use tools and symbols that correspond to the purpose of the ritual.

3. Do you follow the typical elements of earth, water, fire, air, spirit? Or do you follow an even more non-traditional association akin to earth, water, fire, metal?

I tend to work with Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Spirit. To me, this set of elements make sense since it relates nicely to both the pentacle and the Tarot deck. As for other sets, like the Chinese elements, no, I don’t use them. Perhaps if I were to work with an Asian deity I would.
